DermGloss Rx
74%People with chronically sensitive, eczema-prone, or medically treated lips can’t tolerate most mainstream lip gloss bases, which rely on common irritants, fragrances, or occlusives. They currently rotate between boring medical balms and irritating trendy glosses, with no middle ground. DermGloss Rx is a dermatologist-partnered line of therapeutic lip gloss bases that look like mainstream gloss but are built as medical-adjacent products. It focuses on:
- Clinically-informed base systems tailored to specific conditions (cheilitis, post-isotretinoin dryness, allergen-avoidant formulas) with minimal but proven actives.
- Patch-tested, fragrance-free, dye-minimized recipes backed by small clinical or in-practice studies and clear claims (e.g., TEWL reduction, flare frequency).
- Distribution via dermatology clinics, telederm platforms, and allergy centers, with co-branded limited runs for top practices.
- An online questionnaire + sampling program that recommends a base type, ships minis, and gathers real-world tolerability data to improve formulations. This targets 20–45-year-old women and teens already under dermatologic care or hanging out in skin health subreddits and Facebook groups. Revenue blends DTC sales, wholesale to clinics, and subscription refills; the moat is medical trust, clinical data, and strong dermatologist KOL relationships hard for generic beauty brands to replicate.
